We have been contacted about a study by Leicester University which explores whether seeing or hearing about other people falling (for example, friends, family members, or others) influences an individual’s own worries or concerns about falling. They hope that the findings will help improve understanding of fear of falling and contribute to future falls prevention approaches.
Participation is entirely voluntary, anonymous, and confidential. The survey can be completed online at a time convenient to participants, and there are no right or wrong answers, they are simply interested in people’s experiences and perspectives. It takes around 15 minutes to complete.
The university asked if we could circulate the survey link and study information to our members:
They also say they would be very happy to provide a participant information sheet or answer any questions any of our members may have about the study.
Your support will be greatly appreciated and would make an important contribution to research aiming to better understand concerns about falling in later life.
The contact at the University is
