“It’s been the greatest pleasure and privilege to be an active member of a WWu3a group. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.
For me, the ethos of U3a activity groups being run on a “by the members for the members” basis encompasses one of my principal beliefs, which is the importance and huge value of people freely and willingly sharing knowledge, information and practical know-how with others. I’ve learned about determination, dedication, resilience, personal strength in the face of adversity, and about friendship and kindness to mention just a few I’m grateful for. And it goes without saying really, I’ve enjoyed learning together with all of you, and having a laugh along the way.”

“The West Wolds u3a cycling group is brilliant! Lovely bunch of enthusiastic & knowledgeable people. Also, it’s a great way to explore the area whilst helping me stay very fit. I now know all the best places within 20 miles to get a pot of tea and a scone, and I look forward to putting the world to rights on the way.” – Gary Aug 2025
“I joined the U3A cycling group aged 71 some 7 years ago when a hip replacement spelled the end of running. Since then, I have enjoyed encouragement, friendly coaching and a comprehensive knowledge of local scenic routes and countless Wayside cafes”

“Having moved to Lincolnshire 2 years ago to continue my retirement I was keen to make new friends. I joined the u3a as I found it had an active cycling group. I now find the u3a has a fantastic range of other groups too.
Many cyclists will tell you cycling is about how fast and how far you can cycle but that’s not for us in the Market Rasen u3a cycling group. My days of riding as fast as possible have long gone. At the tender age of 78 other things have become more important. For us it’s all about fellowship, and of course coffee. We do occasionally like a challenge but mostly the ride is about chatting on the way to the local cafe. It’s a group ride. We never leave anyone and between us there is always someone who can help with the dreaded punctures.
Lincolnshire has a fantastic network of quiet country roads (sadly with a few potholes so care is often needed but repairs are being done). We see lots of countryside and wildlife and occasionally we even get to help the local farmer round up her escaping sheep.
If anyone want to keep fit, make new friends and drink coffee please contact the West Wolds u3a and join us” – Steve Aug 2025
“One reason for joining u3a was for the cycle group with great weekly rides and great company” – Mandy Aug 2025
“The cycling group let me ride at my own pace, which is probably a lot slower than when the group started”
